about

A writer at heart, Liliana's compositions are full of sweetness and marvelous messages for everyone. When an idea comes, her poetry flows seamlessly through, delivering simple, yet so wonderful stories. Her topics are mostly about experiences that involve the senses, feeling and such traits in an effort to encourage their development as part of our individual growth, that of others and the world as a whole.

Originally from Colombia, Liliana has written poetry since a young age. Her early encounter with Spanish poets and literature in general ignited her passion to write. As a mom and bilingual online teacher, she recognizes the advantages of nursery rhymes for the early development of creativity and communication skills.

She lives in Orlando, Florida.

How did this book come about?

I took a picture of my son playing with a flashlight and the reflection of the light on the wall looked like two big, and round eyes. It seemed like a monster. Then, the first verse came to my head and from there, The Monster On The Wall came to life.

Did you have an idea of what the monster will look like?

I wanted the monster to depict sweetness and I saw it big on the wall. When I expressed my ideas to the illustrators, Juan (Juanbjuan Oliver) took that and created this magnificent piece, decorating every page with his magic.

Did you ever imagine you would write a Children's book?

I've written poetry since I was a kid. With my kids, a new inspiration surfaced and I found myself writing to them. I always wanted to do something like this and I hope the readers enjoy it very much.

Is this the only thing that we will be seeing about the Monster On The Wall?

Of course not. I have great plans to stick with this monster and bring more stories for all to enjoy. I hope it takes us to places we have not seen and brings attention to things we can all learn from and have fun with. At the end of the book you will find a sneak peek of what is coming!
